Ashtanga yoga is a very active type of yoga that builds both strength and flexibility.  The myths associated with of ashtanga is that it was given in an ancient text called the Yoga Korunta, although those who know the way Indian yoga “gurus” presented teachings within their traditional system question whether this is really true. And, the Yoga Korunta has never been found, despite many looking. This doesn’t diminish the legitimacy and benefits of Ashtanga, however. The Indian yoga system is itself changing and growing. Thus Ashtanga is a legitimate modern development in the field of yoga.
