Everyone has there own ideas about the best time to fish when fishing for crappie. One of my colleagues has a job that he has to work from daybreak until dark during the summer months.

Crappie Fishing Tips #1: Night time is always the right time to catch crappie… expect crappie to bite from dusk until midnight…. during most times of the year.
Tip#2: An even better time to be fishing for crappie in some parts of the country is 6-8am in the morning. It works like crazy in the Northeast.
Tip#3:When you are fishing for crappie in rivers,lakes or streams that have moving water you will need to switch between live and artificial bait depending on the crappies mood. Crappies are cold blooded and thier body temperature is controled by the water temperature. When there is moving water, the water temp will vary and so will the activity of the crappie.Look for places in moving water where crappie might be hiding waiting for bait fish to swim by, you will have to put your bait right in fron tof there nose’s but boy will they realy hit!
If crappie are sluggish , it is because they are uncomfortable. Kind of like your neighbor that doesn’t have air conditioning or is still using a wood burning stove when things get cold. They just don’t feel like doing anything until its right in their face!
Crappie Fishing Tips #4: Many fisherman head for the marina once it starts raining but maybe you should wait. If it there is no thunder or lightning, I have found that a great time to go crappie fishing is during the rain, crappie love to bite durring the rain!
Tip#5: I have found when you are fishing in a lake you will want to stay close to the shore line, and make sure you move your bait around quite a bit.Don’t just cast your line out thinking the crappie will come to you. Chanes are you will have a boring fishing trip if you try this practice.
