Keep the excitement going. Make a note, that is excitement, not drama. Make sure he knows he can trust you. Do not spend your time complaining about every little annoyance. There are definitely things about you that annoy him, but you do not want to constantly hear about it.
A man does not want all of his private business made public. Do not share everything with your girl friends.
Remember, you are not his mother, and you do not want to be. He is a grown man, not a child. Do not criticize him and tell him what to do.
Men want to feel needed. They like to be asked for help. Just do not take advantage. Do not forget to do things for him sometimes too. Otherwise he will feel used.
Do not start talking about equality every time that he behaves like a gentleman. He does this because he likes and respects you.
Do not play games. Do not just agree with everything that he says. Have an opinion.
